This is one of favorite side dish of konkanis. We call it by two other names Sanna khotto ( when steamed in Jack fruit tree leaves ) Sanna muddo ( Steamed in Banana leaf ) and sannan.
Ingredients :
Raw Rice – 250 gms
Coconut – 1
12 – 15 Red Chilies
Tamarind – 1 goose berry size
Red Amaranths leaves -2 cups (chopped )
Salt to taste

Method :
- Grind Coconut grating,Red chilies, and Tamarind
- Now add soaked and drained rice. Grind to coarse powder, If you want sprinkle little water while grinding.
- Add chopped Amaranths leaves and salt mix well
- Steam in Steamer in greased banana leaf for 20 -25 minutes.
- Serve hot with some Coconut oil drizzled on them
variations :Instead of amaranths one can use Cabbage and onion,Methi leaves, Drum stick leaves ,Colcasia leaves .
Note : Do not make batter fine or watery or else Muddo will turn sticky.
