Surnali

Ingredients :

  • Raw rice – 1 cup.
  • Coconut – 1 cup.
  • Powa ( beaten rice ) – 1 cup.
  • Butter milk – 1/2 cup.
  • fenugreek- 1/4 tsp.
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Jaggery ( grated ) – 1/2 cup
  • salt to taste.
  • Oil for frying.

Method :

  • Soak rice in water for 2 – 3 hours.
  • Soak fenugreek seeds and turmeric powder in butter milk.
  • Soak powa for 5 minutes.
  • Grind rice,grated coconut,methi seeds (fenugreek seeds ) with butter milk to a fine batter.
  • Add jaggery and salt, blend it well.
  • Add more butter milk or water to adjust the consistency of the batter.
  • Final batter must be medium thick.
  • Ferment it over night or 8 – 9 hours.
  • Next morning heat tawa pour a ladle of batter,it’s a thick dosa so don’t spread the batter.
  • Smear ghee or oil and close it with lid.
  • Cook it in low flame for  few seconds.
  • Serve hot with butter.
