Mysore-Rasam

Ingredients :

  • Thuar dhal – 1 tbsp.
  • Coriander seeds – 2 tsp.
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.
  • Black pepper pods – 10.
  • Red chillies – 2- 3.
  • Tamarind –  pebble size.
  • Garlic – 3 – 5 flakes.
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp.
  • Salt, Jaggery as for taste.

For seasoning :

  • oil, mustard,curry leaves.

Method :

  • Wash thuar dhal,add just enough water,red chillies,turmeric powder,cumin seeds,coriander seeds and pepper.
  • Pressure cook till one whistle and allow to cool.
  • Remove excess water from cooked dhal and grind to coarse paste in mixie.
  • Add dhal water,garlic (peeled or crushed ),tamarind extract,salt,jaggery to ground paste with enough water and boil for few minutes.
  • Seasoned with oil,mustard,Curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • Serve hot with rice.
