Kadge-chakko

Ingredients : 

  • Tender Jack ( Raw Jack )  -1/2 kg.
  • Coconut – 1/2.
  • Red chillies – 6 – 8.
  • Urad  dhal – 2 tsp.
  • Coriander seeds -1 tsp.
  • Tamarind – a pebble size.
  • Salt to taste.

For seasoning :

  •  Oil – 1 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp.
  • Curry leaves – few.

Method :

  • Remove outer core,fibers and cut into one inch pieces of jack ( You should apply oil to  your hands or else the sticky latex will be hard to remove. ).
  • Cook the jack pieces in enough water till they are soft.Separate the pieces and water and keep aside.
  • Heat oil fry red chillies,fry coriander seeds and urad dal one by one separately.
  • Grind grated coconut with red chillies and tamarind to coarsely just before taken out from mixie add fried coriander seeds and urad dhal and grind coarsely.
  • Mash the cooked jack ( don’t mash it into fine pulp,we want rough dry texture).
  •  Heat oil in kadai add mustard seeds when it start spluttering add curry leaves.Now add masala and jack mixture,salt and water we drained out from pieces.Stir well,cook till water evaporate completely.
  • Serve hot with rice and dhalithoy
