Urad Coconut Chutney

 Ingredients :

  • Red chillies – 6
  • Urad dhal (dehusked  black gram dhal )  -1 1/2 tbsp.
  • Grated coconut – 1/4 cup.
  • Garlic  – 5 flakes.
  • Tamarind – a little.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Oil as required.

For seasoning :

  •  Oil – 1/2 tsp.
  • Curry leaves -2 springs.
  • ‘Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp.

 Method :

  • Heat 1/2 tsp of oil in a kadai.Add red chillies,urad dhal and roast until dhal turns golden.
  • Add garlic,coconut,at the end and fry until coconut turns to a pink colour.
  • Allow to cool and grind coarsely with salt and tamarind.
  • Heat 1/2 tsp oil,season mustard seeds and curry leaves in that oil and add to the chutney.
  • Serve with any dosa or Idly.
