when Idly batter is directly poured over a banana leaf and steamed, the dish is called Ramdanu or Sandan.
Ingredients :
- Raw rice – 1 1/2 cup.
- Urad dhal – 3/4 cup.
- Kulithu ( Horse gram ) – 1/2 cup.
- Salt to taste.
Method :
- Soak urad dhal and rice seperately in water for 2 hours.
- Grind dhal till smooth and frothy.
- Grind rice to fine rawa consistency.
- Mix both ground pastes together with salt.
- Allow to ferment overnight.
- Soak Kulithu overnight.
- Next morning grind kulithu till smooth and frothy.
- Mix it to the fermented batter.
- Pour in a pan lined with banana leaves and steam till cooked.
- Cut into pieces and serve with any chutney.
