Ingredients :
- Idly rice – 2 cups.
- Fried gram dal – 1 cup.
- Coconut extract – from 1 cup of coconut(or use 2 tbsp coconut powder ).
- Butter – 1 tbsp.
- sesame seeds – 2 tsp.
- Cumin seeds – 2 tsp.
- salt – as required.
- Oil – For deep frying.
Method :
- Soak rice in water for 2 hours.
- Strain water,add coconut extract and grind to smooth paste.
- Powder dal and pass through a sieve.
- Mix it with ground paste,sesame seeds, cumin seeds,butter and salt.
- Divide the dough into 5-6 parts.
- If necessary sprinkle water to one portion to form dough just before frying.
- Put into greased murukku maker.
- Squeeze and prepare small murukkus (Chakuli ) on top of a wet cloth.
- Slip into hot oil and deep fry till crisp.
