
When it comes to powders and masalas, nothing can beat the homemade flavor and taste. So ditch the store bought version and try out this tried and tested recipe. We find this to be the perfect blend since we use this in a lot of other dishes as well. However you can also increase the number of chillies if you want, to avoid adding extra red chilli powder for making sambar.
Ingredients:
- Coriander Seeds – 2 Tbsp (heaped)
- Cumin Seeds (Jeera) – 1 Tsp
- Fenugreek Seeds (Methi) – 1/2 Tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1/2 Tsp
- Peppercorns – 1/2 Tsp
- Chana Dal – 1 Tbsp
- Toor Dal – 1 Tbsp
- Udad Dal – 1 Tbsp
- Asafoetida – 1 big piece
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 Tsp
- Red Chillies – 10/15
Method:
Dry roast all the ingredients except turmeric powder, Use a little oil to roast red chillies. Grind to a fine powder once cooled sufficiently. Store in an airtight container.
