
Veggies are cooked in a spicy coconut Masala to make a dry or some time semi dry delicious side dish called Sukke. This is my mother’s recipe she prepared this dish with half ripe papaya and onions.
Ingredients :
- Half ripen papaya – 1 small .
- Onions – 2 medium .
- Grated coconut – 1 cup .
- Red chillies – 7 .
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp .
- Tamarind – 1 small peanut size .
- Grated jaggery – 1 tbsp .
- Salt to taste .
- Oil – 1 tsp + 1 tbsp .
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp .

Method :
- Wash , peel and cut papaya in to small cubes .
- Chop onions in to small pieces .
- Heat oil in kadai ,add urad dal and fry them until golden brown in colour , take it out and add red chillies in same oil and fry them for few seconds .
- Grind grated coconut , tamarind , fried red chillies and urad dal in to coarsely without adding water . Take Masala from mixi and Wash the mixi with 1 cup of water , keep this water aside .
- Heat 1 tbsps oil in kadai add mustard seeds , when it stops piping add chopped onions and saute them until they becomes little pink in colour now add papaya cubes , ground masala , jaggery and salt .Add 1 cup of water that we kept mix it well and lower the flame. Cook until done .
- Serve hot with rice and dal .
