Alle piyava ghashi is a delicious curry prepared with fish , but for vegetarian like me , we prepare this dish with lady’s finger ( okra ) or with Brinjal. The flavour of this dish is from raw onions , ginger and green chillies along with a lovely aroma of coconut oil on top . The name of the curry comes from the konkani term for the main ingredients which are Alle ( ginger ) and Piyava ( onion ) .
Ingredients:
1 . Lady’s finger – 7 – 8 .
2 . Onion – 1 small .
3 . Ginger – 1/2 inch .
4 . Green chillies – 2 – 3 .
For masala :
1 . Grated coconut – 6 – 7 tbsp .
2 . Red chillies – 2 bedgi + 2 spicy.
3 . Tamarind – a small piece or add 2-3 bilimbi if you have .
4 . Coconut oil – 1 tbsp + 1/2 tsp .
Salt to taste.

Method:
1 . Wash and cut okra into 1 inch pieces, chop onion, ginger and green chillies.
2. In a small kadai roast the chillies with a little oil .
3 . Grind the red chillies, grated coconut and tamarind into a fine paste.
4 . In a big kadai heat oil and add ginger, green chillies and onions, sauté it for few seconds and add okra pieces and fry it for a minute .
5 . Add ground masala , salt and enough water . Bring it to boil , once it comes to a boil simmer the flame and cover it with lid and cook until done .
6 . Finally add coconut oil and give a good mix . The curry is ready to serve .
7 . Serve it with rice .
