Devil’s Food Cake is the most decadent and sinful chocolate cake. This recipe will give you the moistest chocolate cake ever. Dulce de Leche is easy to make and gives a nice toffee like flavor. Yum!
Ingredients
- 2 cups cake flour or sifted all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder(Cadbury’s is my personal choice)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 1 cup vegetable/canola oil
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon Rum
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup mixed nuts chopped(almonds, cashews and walnuts) [Optional]
- 1/4 cup blueberries(dried) [Optional]
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325F or 160C
- In a large bowl whisk together dry ingredients.
- Add coffee, oil and buttermilk and mix until combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla and mix for another 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into two greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Let cool in pans until warm and then remove from pans and allow to cool completely on a cooling rack.
- While cakes are cooling prepare topping.
- Frost cooled cakes.
- Refrigerate and Serve.
Dulce de Leche Rum Drizzle
Ingredients:
- 1 small tin condensed milk (200g)
- 3 tablespoons fresh cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 tablespoons Rum
- 200g cooking chocolate[I used dairy milk]
Method:
- In a pressure cooker immerse the small tin with water. Cook for 1 hour on medium flame.
- Remove tin and let it cool.
- Melt the cooking chocolate in a double boiler.
- Mix all ingredients together using a whisk/hand blender.
- Pour the topping over the cake and make sure it has covered all the edges.
