Thazhuthama is a annual herb. In Ayurveda Thazhuthama is know for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Traditionally it is used for the treatment of various hepatic (liver) disorders.
Ingredients :
- Thazhutham leaves, chopped – 4 cups.
- Thor dal – 1 tbsp
- Grated coconut – 2 tbsp.
- Shallots -15 – 20.
- Red chillies – 5 – 8.
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp.
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp.
- Oil – 1 tsp.
- Salt to taste.
Method :
- Crush red chilies in a mortar pestle.
- Peel and crush shallots .
- Cook dal in enough water, don’t use pressure cooker.
- Heat oil in pan add mustard when it starts to crackle add shallots.
- Stir for a minute and then add crushed chilies,turmeric powder and chopped leaves.
- Stir it well and cook for a minute.
- Now add the grated coconut, cooked dal and salt.
- Stir again well cover it and cook for a few more minutes.
- There is no need to add water while cooking.
- Open the lid in between and stir well.
- Serve with rice.
